Drug indications

Metabolic syndrome conditions including obesity, hyperlipidemia, hyperglycemia and hypertension

Dosage

Take one capsule twice or three times daily with meal.

For better results, take capsules consistently for at least 1 month.

Drug contraindications

Concurrent use of this drug with cyclosporine, tacrolimus and sirolimus is contraindicated.
Do not use in conditions like kidney or other internal organs transplantation, heart arrhythmias and cancer.
Do not use for children younger than 12 years of age.

Side effects

No adverse effects have been reported with the recommended dose. However, mild gastrointestinal symptoms (i.e. bloating, nausea and mild diarrhea) and dizziness may happen.

Interactions

Tacrolimus , Sirolimus , Cyclosporine
Barberry may increase the effect of antihyperglycemic, antihyperlipidemic and antihypertensive drugs. Consult your physician or pharmacist before use.
Consult your physician or pharmacist before the concurrent use of barberry with digoxin, warfarin, lidocaine, amiodarone, dronedarone, sildenafil, tadalafil, clarithromycin, antidepressant and psychoactive and hypnotic drugs.

Pregnancy level

Avoid use. There is not enough information regarding the safety of this drug in pregnancy and breast feeding.
