Menstrugole
Analgesic , Antispasmodic during menstruation . This drug also posses diuretic as well as lactation inducing effects . Each capsule contains about 80mg dried extract of Apium graveolens ( Celery ) , Pimpinella anisum ( Anis ) and Crocus sativus (Saffron ).
Mechanism of effect
The antispasmodic effects of essential oils have been known for a long time and are proven by a numbers of pharmacological and clinical studies. The principal substance with antispasm effect which is found in the anise fruit is anethole. The chemical structure of anethole is very similar to catecholamines such as adrenaline, noradrenalin and dopamine (1,2). Apigenin, apiin , flavonoids and limonene and selenin formed in celery seeds are sedative and antispasmodic (3) . These effects are clinically approved (4). The herbs used at the formulation of this drug have antibacterial and antifungal properties as well . It should be mentioned that according to a number of herbal therapeutic reference books , it has been indicated that these plants are beneficial for menstrual disorders (5,6). Recent studies have demonstrated the antineoplastic , anti-arthritic and other effects arise from powerful antioxidant properties of the saffron constituents (7).
Dosage
1 -2 capsules 3 times a day.
