sterile, clear, nonpyrogenic solution of essential and nonessential amino acids for intravenous infusion in parenteral nutrition.

Mechanism of effect

Amino Acids Injection provide amino acids. This completely utilizable substrate promotes protein synthesis and wound healing and reduces the rate of protein catabolism.

Dosage

Aminoplasmal 10%

Adults and adolescents from 14 to 17 years
In general, this will be 10 – 20 ml per kg of your body weight per day. The
solution will run in at a rate of not more than 1 ml per kg of your body
weight per hour.
2 – 4 years: 15 ml per kg of your body weight per day
5 – 13 years: 10 ml per kg of your body weight per day
The solution will run in at a rate of not more than 1 ml per kg of your
body weight per hour.
Aminoplasmal 5%

Adults and adolescents from 14 to 17 years
In general, this will be 20 – 40 ml per kg of your body weight per day. The
solution will run in at a rate of not more than 2 ml per kg of your body
2 – 4 years: 30 ml per kg of your body weight per day
5 – 13 years: 20 ml per kg of your body weight per day

Alerts

Administration of amino acids solutions at excessive rates or to patients with hepatic insufficiency may result in plasma amino acid imbalances, hyperammonemia, prerenal azotemia, stupor and coma.

This product contains aluminum that may be toxic. Aluminum may reach toxic levels with prolonged parenteral administration if kidney function is impaired.

Initiation and termination of infusions of TPN fluids must be gradual to permit adjustment of endogenous insulin release.

Undiluted 15% Amino Acids Injection should not be administered peripherally. When administered centrally, it should be diluted with appropriate diluents, e.g., dextrose, electrolytes and other nutrient components, to at least half strength.

Caution against volume overload should be exercised.

Drug product contains no more than 25 mcg/L of aluminum.
